Buford resident, Naysa Brewer defied all odds with her impressive track and field career, leaping to victory in 2021 with state championship titles in both shot put and discus. The fourteen-year-old rising high school freshman smashed expectations when she exceeded the state record for middle school girls’ shot put after nearly seven years of grueling practice; despite not competing during 2020 due Covid, Naysa managed to turn heads when she placed third in discus at the competition with a devastating throw of 99 feet, 9 inches. Her proudest moment came when the thrilling state win earned her its own distinct title.
Naysa Brewer beamed with pride when she broke the state record in middle school girls shot put. After executing her throw, she turned around and saw where the shot had landed, confirming her success. When an official confirmed she had broken the record, Naysa let out a joyous yell and jumped for joy. She was ecstatic to have achieved such a momentous feat.
Her success did not end there, however; she also placed third in discus at the competition with a throw of 99 feet, 9 inches. Naysa’s impressive track and field career has spanned seven years since she was six years old, making her 2021 state champion titles all the more remarkable. Despite not competing in 2020 due to COVID, her determination and skill have earned her five state championship titles since 2017.
Now, as she moves on to high school, Naysa is proud to bring her track and field career with her. She looks forward to competing at Seckinger High School during her upcoming freshman year, and she remains optimistic that she will be able to add more state titles to her collection in shot put, discus and javelin.
Excited to finish her final season with Jackrabbit Track and Field, Naysa is confident that she will not only be able to take home the championship title at the 2023 AAU Club Championship in July, but also break into the top 8 for discus and javelin. With the help of her dedicated father, Levi Brewer III, and her supportive mother, Kimberly Brewer, Naysa looks forward to continuing her track and field career from their home in Buford, Georgia.
