Duck: An Inspirational Member of the Lambert High School Community
Lambert High School is home to a one-of-a-kind student who is setting an example for the entire school. Duck is more than just a beloved face roaming the halls – he has become an integral part of a thriving therapy dog program that has been transformed into a vocational training opportunity for students with special needs. Through his love, friendship and comradery, Duck has made a huge impact on the school community, proving that he is truly at the top of his class.
Even though he initially failed out of duck hunting school, Duck is now a shining example of how failure can lead to success. He is especially bonded with Alyssa Biggs, his best friend and constant companion. Together they remind us all that no matter where we come from, everyone has the potential to make a difference.
His loyal encouragement has been an indispensable resource for Alyssa, who was in the ICU last year and needed assistance to get out of bed. After her father passed away, Duck was there to offer unwavering support, making sure she was doing OK and helping her plan for life after graduation. With Duck by her side, Alyssa is now on the path to achieving her dream of working with dogs.
She has been certified as a therapy dog handler, and her hard work and dedication have led to the school’s nine-therapy dog program. This program not only provides students with the opportunity to gain confidence and independence, but also gives them the chance to hone their entrepreneurial skills by writing a book about working with dogs and launching a business selling homemade treats. Lambert is now the only school in the state that has successfully transformed its therapy dog program into a vocational training program for children with special needs, something Nicoletti expressed excitement about. Duck is proving that it’s never too late to learn something new and his dedication to Alyssa is an inspiring example of this.
Duck has positively transformed the Lambert High School community, unexpectedly creating a thriving therapy dog program and powering Alyssa Biggs back to life. He has shown that no matter our contrast perspectives and situations, our potential for impact takes form when we converge in friendship and support. By providing strong emotional ties of loyalty without expectation, Duck exemplifies the drive to help lift each other up and reach our goals. Despite his initial obstacles, Duck has emerged from failure with an inspiring spirit and contagious passion on a mission to guide others to a brighter tomorrow.
