About the Band
With a new wave of appreciation for traditional jazz, Good Shot Judy took shape from the brothers’ shared admiration for this branch of music. Brett and Jeff Cahoon made the daring leap away from their popular punk band Ten Years From Now to create what would become a much-beloved outfit whose undeniably unique sound continues to draw in listeners today. Relying on instrumentation such as horns, guitars, drums, and harmonicas to bring classic tunes to a modern audience was an idea that paid off handsomely.
It all started on a seemingly mundane golf green as one of Judy Cahoon’s friends yelled out their familiar words of support – “Good Shot, Judy!” Little did they know that this phrase would become an inside joke among the Cahoon family and, even more so, a rather fitting name for an upcoming band. With excellent horns, percussion, and vocals, Good Shot Judy brought the classic melodies to life in an exquisite manner. Then, this humorous phrase became tangible, allowing them to manifest their creative potential. Indeed, “Good Shot Judy!” has earned its place as a collection’s name.
